Hobbies and Books have announced the publication of a new novel for children by Jane Scaletta called “KIMBO’S FIRST HORSE SHOW” and will host this event in celebration of the publication of this local book at Books by the Bay at Grand Harbour, Saturday, June 20 from 11 AM to 2 PM. This is a title for every child’s bookshelf!

WHY: A new novel for children
The book is the first venture into children’s fiction for Ms. Scaletta with further stories to come! Children who love animals, especially horses, will love the Kimbo stories. The colorful illustrations by Julia Theriault effectively complement the text and are delightful as these fun-loving, believable characters come to life on each page. The author defines some important concepts for young children, such as politeness, friendship, dedication, trust and the rewarding results of hard work. Children can relate to the choice that Kimbo has to make between spending time with his best friends or working hard to prepare for his first horse show. The story unfolds from Kimbo’s point of view, so we are drawn into a tale of reaching out to your friends for a little help. The Kimbo Series will be a culmination of stories with every day adventures that children experience as well as that spark of desire to read and keep them reading and learning.
“A Meet the Author” event will be at Books by the Bay, The Shoppes at Grand Harbour, Red Bay, on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 11 AM to 2 PM.
Jane Scaletta will be on hand to sign copies, talk with children and adults about her growing-up years with the horses she loves, and lead a fun-time activity with the children.
